Mauricio Pochettino says reports that Deli Alli and Tottenham are in talks over a new contract are just speculation.
Some newspapers have stated that the 21-year-old England international had opened negotiations over another deal, having only agreed a long-term extension a year ago.
Speaking ahead of Tuesday's Carabao Cup clash with Barnsley at Wembley, Pochettino said it was just "rumours".
He added: "Like always I tell you, when something happens or if a decision happens the club will communicate but that is a rumour."
It has also been reported recently that many of the world's top football agents were looking to get Alli on their books.
The Argentine boss was asked if the midfielder had approached him for advice on his representation.
Pochettino said: "He didn't ask about that and it's his business. Of course, every single player can ask me and can knock my door.
"I am open to giving advice but he didn't ask me and I cannot say more."
Alli has impressed for the north London club since signing from MK Dons just over two years ago in a £5m deal and is set to feature against Barnsley in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night.
"Yes, he is going to play," Pochettino said.
"I think he is still very young. His potential is massive. He did very well last season and it's not easy for a young player to keep this level in every game.
"It is about maturity. It's about finding your balance in training, competing, in your life, everything. The player is not only what we see on the pitch.
"He is not a number. We need to see the player as having a lot of things around them happening. He is not just furniture.
"There are a lot of things that affect them, that are around them when you are young. I was like Dele, I was from zero to 100. You need to find your balance."
