Gakpe commits to Monaco

Monaco starlet Serge Gakpe has committed his long-term future to the club.

Monaco starlet Serge Gakpe has committed his long-term future to the club.

The gifted 19-year-old has penned his first professional contract at the Stade Louis II.

Viewed as one of the most promising prospects in European football, Gakpe has penned a five-year deal with the principality club.

Meanwhile, Monaco coach Laurent Banide has outlined his plans for the transfer window.

Banide is not expecting to spend too much in January but confirmed he will be looking to offload strikers.

"We will only take someone if an exceptional player is available," Banide told the club's official website.

"The problem comes from the number of strikers, and I have said two or three will leave.

"Every weekend we leave some of them at home, and that is a shame because they have talent and should play.

"I want stability and I will be counting on the group to satisfy me in the next two months."
