Nantes progressed to the next round of the French Cup with a win at Amiens.
Ligue 1 side Nantes progressed to the next round of the French Cup courtesy of a 3-1 victory on their travels to Amiens.
Nantes put league struggles behind them to record what was an ultimately comfortable victory, but only after Tony Vairelles was dismissed on the stroke of half-time.
The incident resulted in a Nantes penalty, dispatched by Luigi Pieroni, who in the 57th minute doubled his side's advantage with a second.
Amiens did not buckle despite a numerical disadvantage and even rallied to get them back into the contest when Bertrand Fayolle struck with 15 minutes left on the clock.
There would not be a dramatic comeback, though, for in the final minute Dennis Oliech registered his side's third.
