Diallo upbeat for Nantes

Mali international Mamadou Diallo is confident that Nantes will avoid relegation from Ligue 1.

Mali international Mamadou Diallo is confident that Nantes will avoid relegation from Ligue 1.

The African striker has set himself a target of eight goals in nine matches in order to help Les Canaris, currently third from bottom in the table, in their bid to beat the drop.

"I feel good mentally. My state of mind is positive, as is the team's," Diallo told Football365.

"The first part of my season has been difficult because I didn't score and I wasn't efficient, that is why I lost my place.

"I knew that working and training was the only solution to come back into the coach's plans. In our team, nobody is untouchable and there isn't an official starting XI.

"I want to help Nantes to safety before the last match of the season because I have already experienced that situation back in 2005 and it is very stressful.

"With previous coaches Serge Le Dizet and Georges Eo it was more complicated but now we feel better, but everything can go quickly in football.

"I love playing alongside Claudiu (Keseru), we have found the right balance and play together easily. He is a player that has a striker's reflexes. He loves to stay in front of the goal, whereas I come from further away.

"Even if though there are just nine matches remaining, I will do as much as possible to reach my objective and to score eight more goals."
