Stankevicius breaks collarbone

Lithuania have been dealt an injury blow following the news that Marius Stankevicius has been ruled out of the remainder of their Euro 2008 qualifying campaign. Stankevicius broke his collarbone in Lithuania's 3-1 defeat to Scotland on Saturday and will now miss his country's final four Group B games. The 26-year-old, who sustained the injury after an awkward fall from an aerial challenge early in the second half, will now undergo surgery in Italy. Lithuania expect to be without the defender's services for several months as he undergoes a lengthy period of rehabilitation. The news adds to Lithuania's growing selection problems as defender Tomas Zvirgzdauskas is already suspended for Wednesday's meeting with the Faroe Islands and striker Robertas Poskus is doubtful with an Achilles injury. Lithuania have called up Mantas Savenas and Aurimas Kucys as cover.
