Posh close on Diagouraga as goalkeeper departs

Peterborough are closing in on the capture of for Hereford's Toumani Diagouraga after agreeing a fee for his services. The French-born midfielder and his agent are now due to meet director of football Barry Fry to thrash out personal terms. Posh play attractive free-flowing football and Fry believes the 22-year-old would fit in well with the club's ethos. "Toumani is a holding midfielder who breaks up play, but he is also a good passer of the ball," Fry told the Evening Telegraph.

Fresh move

"We tried to sign him last summer but as Hereford were promoted with us he stayed with them. "Darren Ferguson fancied having another go at him after Hereford's relegation last season and we have now had a bid accepted. "I'm speaking to the player and hopefully we will reach an agreement. It's another young, hungry player who will fit in superbly with the rest of the squad. "Darren thinks he offers something different to the other midfielders at the club."
Keeper exit
Meanwhile, veteran keeper Mark Tyler has left London Road after 15 years at the club. The 32-year-old made over 400 starts for Posh, but spent much of last season on loan at Bury after falling behind Joe Lewis and James McKeown in the pecking order. Fry added: "Mark has been a model professional, both on and off the pitch, and has been a credit to himself and the football club. "I would like to thank Mark for the fantastic service he has given to Peterborough United and wish him the best of luck with his future career."
