Stoke manager Tony Pulis has given Ricardo Fuller extra time off due to his exertions with the Jamaican national team this summer.
The rest of the Potters squad have been back in training for two weeks but Fuller is yet to join them as he looks to rest ahead of the upcoming season.
The striker has endured a busy summer playing in two World Cup qualifiers for the Reggae Boyz as well as featuring in the Gold Cup this month.
Pulis confirmed he will speak to the 29-year-old when he returns from the club's week long pre-season trip to Austria but he knows that his top scorer last season only has 24 days to reach optimum fitness before the new campaign gets under way.
"Ric does need a bit more time off because he's been working all summer," he told The Sentinel.
"I'll speak to him when I get back from Austria and then decide exactly when he's back with us.
"We've got to give him a bit of grace because of the games he's been involved in. We'll see how his fitness is when we see him.
"The thing with Ric is keeping him bright mentally as much as physically."
