Lisbon midfielder wants situation resolved

Sporting Lisbon midfielder Adrien is planning talks with the club after being linked with a January move to Portsmouth. Reports in Portugal have claimed that Pompey have been in negotiations with Sporting regarding a possible deal for Adrien. Pompey are rumoured to want the Portugal Under 21 international on loan with a view to a permanent deal, or could even stump up 5million euros (£4.5m) to buy Adrien in the New Year. Negotiations are understood to have been held up by the recent change in coach at Sporting, with Carlos Carvalhal having replaced Paulo Bento at the helm. Adrien is waiting to learn if he is involved in Carvalhal's plans for the future before deciding on whether to quit Sporting when the transfer window reopens. "I want to play and have chances on the pitch, but I wait to speak with the club to clear my situation," Adrien told the Portuguese media. "I have seen the rumours, but I have not spoken with anybody."
