Striker returns to Costa Rica due to family issues

Bristol City have confirmed Alvaro Saborio's loan spell at Ashton Gate has been cut short and the striker has returned to Costa Rica. Saborio joined the Championship club on a season-long loan from Swiss side FC Sion before the close of the summer transfer window and there was an option for a permanent deal. However, after scoring twice in 21 appearances for the Robins, Saborio's time with Gary Johnson's team has come to an end. The 27-year-old has also terminated his contract with Sion and Johnson acknowledged the forward's form has been affected of late. "Alvaro's had problems at home and it's been so bad for him that's he asked to cancel his deal here and end his time with FC Sion as well," Johnson told the club's official website. "I don't know what his situation is with his family, but it certainly affected his training and he lost his form. "He became a shadow of himself and if you're not mentally up for the Championship then it stands out like a sore thumb. "It must be a big problem to cut your career short and return home."
