Midfielder praises supporters after signing new contract

Hannover midfielder Sergio Pinto has ended any doubts about his future by signing a new three-year contract. Pinto joined Hannover in 2007 from Alemannia Aachen and his contract was due to expire at the end of the month. However, the Portuguese midfielder, 29, has agreed to stay at the AWD-Arena and praised the club's supporters after putting pen to paper. "I am happy that I was able to work out a new deal with the club," said Pinto. "I am now looking forward to an extended relationship with Hannover 96. "I especially enjoy the supporters, who have helped us a lot with their support and their joy in recent months." General manager Jorg Schmadtke added on the club's official website: "Sergio Pinto has helped us to keep our Bundesliga status with his performances in the final matches of the recent season. "He is a versatile player able to feature in different positions. We are delighted he is going to stay on with us."
