Former Fulham defender Moritz Volz has returned home to Germany to join Bundesliga new boys St Pauli. The 27-year-old returns to Germany after an 11-year absence to join the Hamburg based club who clinched promotion to the top tier for the first time in eight years. The defender, who started out with Arsenal before being released by the Cottagers last summer, passed a medical on Monday before signing a two-year contract. "I am certain this club suits me and I suit this club," said Volz, who made 144 appearances for Fulham. "I'm looking forward to the tasks ahead, the new league and the challenge we face as a team." Volz is the second high-profile name player to arrive at St Pauli following their promotion and he joins former Germany striker Gerald Asamoah, who has signed from Schalke.
