Algeria manager Rabah Saadane admits he is unsure whether goalkeeper Faouzi Chaouchi will be fit to face England.
The 25-year-old shot-stopper sprained his knee during training on Tuesday and is a doubt for the crunch clash with the Three Lions on Friday.
Chaouchi was guilty of an error in the Desert Foxes' opening game with Slovenia, when he allowed a Robert Koren shot to slip through his grasp as the Europeans clinched a 1-0 victory.
Reports had suggested that the goalkeeper could be dropped for the Cape Town clash, but coach Saadane will only know if he will be ready on the morning of the match.
"We're preparing our second keeper," he told reporters.
"We won't know if Chaouchi will be fit until possibly the day of the match. It's a setback."
Algeria need a positive result against England if they are to have any chance of qualifying from Group C.
The North Africans will be the underdogs when the two sides meet, and Saadane says they will need no extra motivation.
He added: "England is one of the biggest teams in the tournament. My players will not need any other motivation than they are playing against England.
"If my team plays against Brazil or England it is a big motivation for them."
