Experienced midfielder hopes for Serie A return

Midfielder Enzo Maresca has admitted he wants to make a return to Italy after being released by Olympiakos in the summer. The 30-year-old is currently a free agent after leaving the Greek club, and has been linked with a move to Premier League side West Brom, for whom he played for between 1998 and 2000. However, speculation has mounted that the experienced Italian is set on making a Serie A comeback, with Fiorentina and Palermo names in the frame. Maresca has denied that a return to West Brom is on the cards, and admits Italy is his preferred destination. "In January I'd like to come back to Italy," he told calciomercato.com. "In this moment I'm not currently in talks with Italian team, not even with Fiorentina or Palermo. "A return in England to West Bromwich? These are just rumours, nothing true. "My desire is to return to play in Serie A, I have no preference of which team. "If I don't receive bids from Italy, I will evaluate proposals from abroad."
