Paraguayan stopper leaves Wearside for Spain

Sunderland's Paolo Da Silva has sealed his expected transfer to Primera Liga outfit Real Zaragoza for an undisclosed fee. The Paraguay international joined the Black Cats from Toluca in 2009 and, despite featuring prominently in his debut season, he made just three appearances this term. The captures of Titus Bramble from Wigan and Nedum Onuoha on loan from Manchester City last summer limited Da Silva's appearances to the point where he became surplus to requirements for manager Steve Bruce. Da Silva impressed for Paraguay in the World Cup finals in South Africa last year and becomes the second player to leave the Stadium of Light this month following David Healy's move to Rangers. Zaragoza currently sit 15th in the Liga table with 22 points from 21 games and manager Javier Aguirre will be hoping the arrival of the experienced defender can help the team move away from the bottom three.
