Higgins keen to contribute goals after agreeing two-year contract

St Johnstone have taken steps to improve their attacking options for next season by signing Sean Higgins from Dundee. Higgins has signed a two-year contract with Saints, who scored just 23 goals in 38 games during the SPL season. Derek McInnes released nine players earlier in the week, including several strikers, and Higgins is keen to make his mark at McDiarmid Park. "I'm overjoyed to be in the SPL and at a club like Saints," the 26-year-old told the club's official website. "I know Saints were struggling to score last season and the manager wants me to make a contribution and he says he also wants me to help link play between midfield and the strikers. "It's good to have things sorted out this early but my pre-season starts now and I will make sure I am ready for the start of the season." Higgins previously spent seven seasons in Dingwall with Ross County, where he scored 56 goals in 209 appearances. Earlier in the week, St Johnstone captured midfielder David Robertson on a two-year contract from Dundee United.
