Chairman Mark van der Kallen is delighted midfielder Jens Toornstra has chosen to snub a move to FC Utrecht in favour of staying at ADO Den Haag.
The Netherlands Under-21 international held recent talks with Utrecht over a potential move and looked set to sign at the Stadion Galgenwaard.
Toornstra was tipped as a successor for highly-rated midfielder Kevin Strootman following his move from Utrecht to PSV Eindhoven.
However, the 22-year-old has now performed a U-turn and decided to remain with ADO, who will compete in the Europa League this season
"It flatters our egos that these guys prefer to stay with us," Van der Kallen told Voetbal International. "It also shows a good attitude.
"Jens told us, 'I'm good at my job at ADO, the club is on the rise and I want to experience European football'. (It's a) super situation."
ADO winger Wesley Verhoek could still make the move to Utrecht, but Van der Kallen has denied reports in the Dutch media that the club have given him an ultimatum over his future.
"That is sheer nonsense," he added. "We will now give Wesley the time and space to see if he is keen on Utrecht.
"We're trying to keep our fantastic team from last season together as much as possible.
"But when the boys themselves clearly want to leave, then we think about that."
