Aussie set to end his career in the A-League with Sydney FC

Brett Emerton wants to end his Blackburn career on a high note before he returns to his homeland to play for Sydney FC. The Australia international has enjoyed eight years at Ewood Park where he has performed with distinction throughout his tenure. Everton will arrive at the Lancashire on Saturday and the industrious midfielder is making it his business to glean three points in his final appearance in a Rovers shirt. Emerton has signed a three-year deal to play in the A-League which should see him see out his career in Australia.

Leaving

"Obviously it is sad to be leaving the club after eight years," he told the club's official website. "It has been a fantastic eight years, I have enjoyed every minute of it and I'm sure it will be emotional after the game on Saturday. "But it is more important just to concentrate on the game and whether I play a part or not, to hopefully get three points and leave on a high. "For family reasons, we have decided that now is the right time for us to go back, and I'm really looking forward to going back and playing in the A-League and contributing something to football in Australia."
