Scots boss hoping Uefa take action against Czech winger

Scotland head coach Craig Levein wants Uefa to take action against Czech Republic's Jan Rezek for simulation in Saturday's 2-2 draw. Levein's side were leading 2-1 late on in their crucial Euro 2012 qualifier before Rezek went down in penalty area under a challenge from substitute Danny Wilson. Replays suggested there was little to no contact between the duo and Scotland's anger only intensified when referee Kevin Blom failed to award the home side a penalty minutes later for Roman Hubnik's tackle on Christophe Berra. Levein knows nothing can be done about the result as it is now consigned to the history books, however, he sees no reason why European football's governing body cannot take action against Rezek as it sends out of the right message that simulation will not be tolerated.

Ramifications

"Let's look at it and say nothing is going to happen that will help us get any of the points back," commented Levein. "But there are situations I feel that we shouldn't let pass. "We have a player from the Czech Republic who has dived and admitted it. His director of football has come on the television and said it wasn't a penalty. "I remember a similar incident four or five years ago when (Saulius) Mikoliunas received a two-game ban. "Well, a precedent has been set and I don't believe the Czech Republic deserve to have Rezek available for the next two games. I think it's worth making sure that people are aware of what's happened. "There is a respect campaign and fair play is quite high up on Fifa's thoughts. There is enough evidence to suggest that there was a breach of those rules."
