Highly-rated striker committed to Ligue 1 outfit until 2015

Alain Traore has agreed a contract extension at Auxerre that will keep him at the club until 2015. The 22-year-old's current deal was due to run until 2014, but he has agreed to prolong that agreement by a further 12 months. The Burkina Faso striker is hot property at the moment after making an explosive start to the new season. He has already notched six goals in nine appearances this term, taking him to the top of the scoring charts in France. Traore has been shortlisted for the September Ligue 1 Player of the Month award and will compete with Lyon's Bafetimbi Gomis and PSG's Javier Pastore for the prize.

Excellent

He has come a long way since being snapped up in 2005 by Auxerre, who spotted him playing at the Planete Champion football school in his homeland and quickly drafted him into their academy system. He has progressed at pace over the last six years and Auxerre are delighted to have secured his services for the foreseeable future. "Alain Traore has chosen to extend his contract with Auxerre after his excellent start to the season," read a statement released by the club.
