Us duo on the mend

Image: Wordsworth: Out with chickenpox

Colchester are confident Anthony Wordsworth and Matt Heath will be fit in time for the club's return to action against Scunthorpe.

Midfielder Wordsworth missed Monday's 1-0 defeat at MK Dons with chickenpox while defender Heath was forced to the sidelines nursing a groin problem picked up against Exeter on New Year's Eve. With this Saturday's scheduled clash against Oldham rearranged due to the Latics' involvement in the FA Cup third round, the U's are not in action until the visit of Scunthorpe on January 14 and that should give the pair enough time to recover. Physio Tony Flynn told the club's official website: "Anthony came in feeling unwell the day after the Exeter game and after seeing the doctor it was confirmed he had chickenpox. "He is still contagious but will be training with the squad at the beginning of next week and should be available for the Scunthorpe game. "Matt tweaked his groin towards the end of the first half against Exeter and then had to come off in the second half. Now it has settled down a bit it doesn't seem to be too serious so he should also be back in training next week ahead of the next game."
