Midfielder picks up injury while away on international duty

Alain Traore is set to be sidelined for up to three weeks after picking up a thigh injury while away on international duty at the Africa Cup of Nations. The Auxerre midfielder suffered the blow while competing for Burkina Faso. He was unable to help his country progress through the group stages and left the tournament nursing a knock. Traore had complained of feeling discomfort in his left thigh prior to Burkina Faso's early exit, and he was sent for tests in an effort to get to the bottom of the problem. Medical examinations on Monday revealed a muscle strain and he will now require a period of rest. News of his setback comes as a blow to Auxerre, as they were looking for Traore to help them clamber away from relegation trouble in Ligue 1.
