Chesterfield ace says relegation would be a huge blow

Chesterfield's experienced midfielder Mark Allott believes that relegation this season would be a massive blow to the club, with their League One status hanging by a thread. The Spireites have struggled to find their feet since securing promotion last year in style by clinching the League Two title. However, they kept their survival dreams alive at the weekend with a spirited comeback against Hartlepool in a 2-1 win. Victory leaves them seven points adrift of safety with just three games remaining and the 34-year-old told Sky Sports that demotion back to the fourth-tier would be a huge setback to the Derbyshire outfit. "It would be very disappointing for everyone connected with the club, from the staff, players and fans, to go down this year, especially having had such a fantastic season last year and to go up the way we did. "It would be massive blow, but hopefully that doesn't happen and we manage to get the results we need. "Obviously, relegation is difficult for every club to take, but if it comes to that it will be up to us as a club to bounce back next season."
