Former Spain captain to extend his illustrious career in Qatar

Qatari outfit Al Sadd have confirmed former Real Madrid legend Raul will be playing for the club next season after completing his signing. The 34-year-old joined Schalke in 2010 after 16 trophy-laden years at the Bernabeu and was a success in the Bundesliga. He claimed two domestic cups with Schalke and scored his landmark 400th career goal while with the club.

Unveiled

However, he has opted not to renew his contract when his two-year deal expires this summer and will now seek a new challenge. The former Spain striker will be unveiled at a press conference on Sunday, but Al Sadd have already confirmed via their website that he will be their player next season. "Al Sadd will hold a press conference on Sunday, May 13 to present Spanish star Raul Gonzalez, who is contracted to the team for the 2012/13 season," the statement read.
