Our Football Desk select their young players of the season for 2011/12 and invite you to pick your own.
Joe Allen, Swansea City : The Wales international has adapted effortlessly to the demands of Premier League football with Swansea City. Perfectly suited to the way Brendan Rodgers' side play, Allen has an eye-catching, and all too rare, mix of intelligence, hard work and passing ability. MB James McClean, Sunderland: In terms of physique, powerful yet stylish technique, and team position, there is more than a passing resemblance to a young Cristiano Ronaldo. McClean has taken the Premier League by storm and, unfortunately, with the shop window of Euro 2012 on the horizon, it seems only a matter of time before the Irishman leaves the Stadium of Light. PF Victor Moses: Doesn't get many plaudits, but for me Victor Moses has had a breakthrough year this term. The former Crystal Palace man was always regarded as highly-rated but this season has shown that at just 21 he is Premier League quality with a string of hugely important performances and goals. GB Kyle Walker, Tottenham: Still only 21 but already one of the Premier League's finest full-backs, Walker has caught the eye with his displays for Tottenham this season. Solid in defence and mature beyond his years, Walker really excels in getting forward down the right flank and using his pace to contribute to attacks. He has already broken into the England set-up and been crowned PFA Young Player of the Year. LR Sergio Aguero, Manchester City: Strong, pacey and a deadly finisher, Aguero has enjoyed an impressive debut campaign after joining from Atletico Madrid last summer. Roberto Mancini's tendency to rotate his frontline means the 23-year-old has been denied a regular strike partner but that has not fazed the Argentinian, who has netted 29 goals this season as City's top scorer - including the title-clincher. RG David de Gea, Manchester Utd: I raised an eyebrow when I saw the champions shell out for a 21-year-old keeper and was amongst his critics as he struggled in the spotlight during the early part of the season but the Spaniard has adjusted well to life at Old Trafford and some fine performances helped propel United to within a moment of another Premier League crown.
