Chelsea defender Patrick van Aanholt will continue his loan spell at Vitesse after signing a new deal, the Eredivisie club have confirmed. The 21-year-old left-back spent the second half of last season on loan at the Dutch side, making nine league appearances and helping them to success in the European play-offs, with Vitesse to compete in the Europa League this term. Vitesse confirmed on their official website the youngster, who has previously spent time on loan at Coventry, Leicester, Newcastle and Wigan, will be spending another season at the Arnhem club. Van Aanholt is currently in London for a yearly development check at Chelsea, which is standard procedure for their on-loan players, but will return to his native Holland on July 13th. Vitesse previously announced Van Aanholt's Blues team-mate Tomas Kalas will return to the club on loan after spending last season at the GelreDome, impressing over 29 appearances. The 19-year-old Czech defender is also back in London but both players are expected to be present when Vitesse start their Europa League campaign against Bulgarian side Lokomotiv Plovdiv on July 19th.
