Gulls boss clears the decks

Torquay manager Alan Knill has released seven players, including right-backs Joe Oastler and Danny Leadbitter.

The highest profile exit is arguably winger Danny Stevens, who has been with the Gulls for six years, making 215 appearances and scoring 28 goals. Lloyd Macklin, Saul Halpin, Karl Baker and midfielder Craig Easton will also bid farewell, while loan defender Angus MacDonald will not be pursued as a permanent signing for next season. The futures of seven players - Aaron Downes, Brian Saah, Ryan Jarvis, Martin Rice, Tom Cruise, Ashley Yeoman and top scorer last season Rene Howe - have yet to be decided.
