Livesey: Blame the players

Danny Livesey believes the players should shoulder the blame for Carlisle's poor displays in recent weeks and not Gregg Abbott.

The Cumbrians have taken only one point from their first four league games and after crashing to a 5-2 home Capital One Cup defeat to Leicester in midweek have conceded 22 goals in their first six matches. "A lot of people point the finger at the gaffer, but it's only us who can stop this," Livesey said after Tuesday night's disappointment. "We're all behind the manager and we're all trying to put this right. "It's difficult to put your finger on why it's going so wrong at the moment. We're training well, but it seems to be that when we concede we completely collapse. "We need the fans to keep coming, but we need to give them a reason to come. "I can totally understand why people aren't coming to watch us get hammered every week. "We aren't just getting beat - we're getting hammered. Who would want to watch that? "It's something that is haunting us all at the moment and we need to address it. "I know I've said it before, but it has to come from the players. "Blaming other people won't get us anywhere." Carlisle travel to Brentford on Saturday in search of their first win of the season.
