York have confirmed that skipper Chris Smith has parted company with the League Two club.
The 32-year-old, who hasn't featured since York's FA Cup defeat to Bristol Rovers in the middle of November, leaves the club in search of regular football. Smith captained the Minstermen to victory in the FA Trophy final in 2012, before returning to Wembley the following week to secure promotion to the Football League with a win over Luton in the play-off final.
