Magpies make Vela swoop

Notts County have signed Bolton Wanderers midfielder Josh Vela on a one-month loan deal.

The 20-year-old Wanderers academy product will be with the Magpies for their next six matches as they attempt to claw themselves from the foot of the League One table and clear of relegation trouble. "It's a football decision. If I was to be selfish I'd keep him by my side," said Bolton boss Dougie Freedman. "We've had a difficult time with Josh in terms of him filling his potential. He's turned his professionalism around and now he understands what training is about. He's been fantastic the last three or four months, he's worked his way to being around the bench. "He's not quite cracked the first team yet, he's got two very difficult characters in front of him in Jay (Spearing) and Medo (Kamara) who've been playing very well. I believe it's the best decision to let him go on loan for a month and let him get some football." Vela has made just two first-team appearances for Bolton this season but had recently started to impress for the development squad. A long-term knee problem had curtailed his progress since bursting on to the scene as a teenager in the Premier League under Owen Coyle.
