Coker: Standards have been set

Ben Coker has urged Southend to show their play-off credentials against fellow League Two promotion hopefuls Burton on Saturday.

The Shrimpers and Albion have cemented places in the end-of-season shake-up and could well meet each other in the semi-finals should final-day results fall a certain way. Coker is hoping his side can lay down a marker at the weekend as they did last time out in drawing away against a Fleetwood side who will also partake in the season finale. The result guaranteed Phil Brown's side's place in the play-offs, while ensuring the Cod Army could not finish in the top three. Coker told the club's official website: "We played well on Saturday. I thought we started the game brightly and responded well to going a goal behind. "It put down a good marker, because we got the point we needed while Fleetwood were needing the win to keep their automatic hopes alive. "On Saturday, the manager won't let us drop our standards. He will be wanting us to put another marker down and that is exactly what we want to do as players."
