York have signed midfielder Luke Summerfield following his recent departure from Shrewsbury.
Summerfield, 24, who left Shrewsbury after they had been relegated to Sky Bet League Two, has put pen to paper on a two-year deal at Bootham Crescent. York boss Nigel Worthington told the club's official website: "I've brought Luke in to the club, a player who has League One experience. "He's got great legs and is a box-to-box player. He can score goals, which we need from different areas of the pitch. "He isn't going to be a Frank Lampard, make no mistakes about that, but he is capable of scoring a goal and I think it's important to add people who can score to different areas of the pitch. "So I'm delighted to get him on board, he's a good athletic player and has good experience as well." Summerfield started out at Plymouth before joining Cheltenham in 2011 and has spent the last two seasons at Shrewsbury, where he made 64 appearances and scored three goals. He is York's seventh summer signing following the arrivals of Femi Ilesanmi, Jason Mooney, Jake Hyde, Marvin McCoy, Anthony Straker and Dave Winfield.
