New Bristol City signing Aaron Wilbraham has revealed that Steve Cotterill played a major role in his move to Ashton Gate.

The new City striker signed a one-year deal after a chance meeting with his new manager in Dubai. And that was all it took to persuade the 34-year-old that his future was with the Robins. He told the club's official website: "I saw the gaffer in Dubai, we had a chat and arranged a meeting for when we returned. "I also saw him in the gym a couple of times. He said he was checking up on me as he had someone texting him every time I went into the gym! "I was speaking to a few clubs at the time but when I spoke to the manager and saw his enthusiasm and what he wants to do this season, (that) is what impressed me and made me want to sign. "It's not a step down for me. I believe it's a step in the right direction to play some games. I don't see myself as a Premier League star who is down because I've played a lot of games at this level." Wilbraham also said that the chance to play with his good friend Sam Baldock again was appealing. The pair struck up good partnership in their time at MK Dons and the new striker his hopeful that they can help City move up the table. He said: "I spoke to Sam then about the club, obviously you don't keep in touch with everyone you play with but he is a really good friend of mine. "He believes we have a good chance his season that was really appealing to me."
