Leeds have signed Switzerland international defender Gaetano Berardi from Sampdoria.
Berardi, who can play in both full-back positions, has signed a two-year contract after Leeds agreed an undisclosed fee with the Italian club.
The 25-year-old won his first international cap in 2011 and becomes Leeds' fifth signing of the summer.
Goalkeepers Marco Silvestri and Stuart Taylor have already joined along with midfielder Tommaso Bianchi and striker Souleymane Doukara.
Leeds' first-team squad returned to training on Thursday to work under new head coach David Hockaday ahead of thier Championship opener at Millwall on August 9.
