Kei Kamara has left Middlesbrough after his contract was cancelled by mutual consent, but the club have completed a loan move for Tottenham defender Ryan Fredericks.

Kamara scored four goals in a total of 25 appearances for Boro but has failed to feature this season.

A brief statement said: "The club would like to thank Kei for his efforts over the last 12 months and wish him every success in his future career."

Fredericks could make his debut against Reading on Saturday, and manager Aitor Karanka told the club's official website: "Ryan is a player who can help us going forward because he's a defender with an attacking mentality.

"He can learn a lot with us. We're going to try and help him develop his defending positioning because he's young and aggressive and likes to go forward."

Karanka also confirmed Boro are closing in on the signing of Chelsea youngster Patrick Bamford.
