Clarke backing for Slade

Leyton Orient captain Nathan Clarke insists Russell Slade is the man to take the club forward.

O's boss Slade received a stay of execution on Tuesday night following the 1-1 draw at Notts County, a match which he revealed on Saturday he needed to win to save his job. Slade held talks with new club president Francesco Becchetti, sporting director Mauro Milanese and chief executive Alessandro Angelieri following the game and then revealed he was still in charge "at this moment in time". And defender Clarke says the players are all behind the man who guided the unfancied O's to the League One play-off final last season. "As you saw out on the pitch the lads gave it everything for the manager," Clarke said after the match. "He's always stuck behind us and we as players believe he is the man to take us forward and we want him here as long as possible. The supporters are right behind the players, the manager and the staff. "We know the owners want success, we do as players and so do the staff. We are giving everything and sticking together to try to turn things around."
