Sky Bet Championship: Simon Church remains at Charlton due to injury

Simon Church's chances of a loan move away from Charlton have been scuppered by injury.

The striker has made just three appearances for the Addicks this season and was told by boss Bob Peeters that he could leave The Valley temporarily to get more game time.

But Church, 25, suffered a dislocated shoulder playing for Wales this week to put paid any potential move for the foreseeable future.

"If you dislocate your shoulder it will be a few weeks," said Peeters.

"There were some teams interested. I think Churchy can do the job at certain teams, but again I think we spoke very honestly with each other.

"I'm gambling on the youth at this moment, but he is still a squad player and if he was not injured he was available to be in the squad.

"I talked to him because I respect him as a human, and he is a Wales international so I give him that respect, but I told him maybe it is better to go somewhere else to get minutes.

"We had some clubs interested but we will see how it goes when he is back."
