Swansea have successfully appealed the straight red card issued to Federico Fernandez during the Capital One Cup match against Liverpool earlier this week.
The Argentinian defender was dismissed in the 90th minute for what referee Keith Stroud ruled a dangerous tackle on Philippe Coutinho on Tuesday night.
Liverpool scored the winner from the resulting free-kick via Dejan Lovren’s header, booking them a quarter-final tie away to AFC Bournemouth.
Fernandez was facing a three-match ban but has seen the red card rescinded ahead of Swansea’s trip to Everton on Saturday.
After the match at Anfield, Swans boss Garry Monk told Sky Sports: “It clearly wasn’t a sending off at all.
“Hopefully the referee will see some sense and the authorities will rescind it. It’s an honest challenge and, if anything, Coutinho’s feet were higher than Federico’s and actually went in over the top of our player.”
Monk was recently asked for his observations on comments he made about the head of Premier League referees Mike Riley and several match officials following a defeat at Stoke.
But the manager has avoided any FA punishment for his thoughts, which included branding Stoke’s Victor Moses “a cheat”.
