Fleetwood move for Hitchcock

Fleetwood have moved quickly to boost their attacking options by signing Tom Hitchcock on loan from MK Dons until the end of December.

The Cod Army lost striker Liam McAlinden on Thursday after Wolves elected to invoke their 28-day recall clause on their player, while Jamie Proctor is suspended for this weekend's game against Gillingham. With Jamille Matt also ruled out for the campaign with a season-ending leg injury, Graham Alexander has turned to 22-year-old forward Hitchcock. The Dons won the race for his signature this summer after he left QPR following goal-laden loan spells with Bristol Rovers, Crewe and Rotherham, but he is yet to score for Karl Robinson's men. Speaking to his club's official website, Alexander said: "With Liam going back to Wolves it meant we had to bring another striker in and Tom is someone who we've watched for the past 18 months. "We're aware of his ability and he scored goals in League One last season so hopefully he can come in and do something for us. We're pleased to have him on board. "He scored a few goals for Rotherham towards the end of last season and that experience is good for us because we were looking for someone who's already played at this level. "Tom wants to try and get his career up and running so hopefully he can do that while he's with us, and we'll give him every opportunity to do that. "He's a clever player and a very good finisher. He'll come into a squad who will welcome him and everyone is hoping that he'll do well here."
