Newcastle have recalled young defender Remie Streete from his loan spell at Port Vale amid a mounting injury crisis.

The 20-year-old, who has made three appearances for the League One side, agreed to extend his stay until January last week, but with Magpies boss Alan Pardew having lost Steven Taylor and Fabricio Coloccini and Mike Williamson still working his way back to fitness, Streete has been summoned back to Tyneside. A club spokesman said: "Remie Streete has been recalled from his loan spell with League One side Port Vale. "Last week the 20-year-old, who has made three appearances for the Valiants, agreed to extend his stay at Vale Park until 4th January 2015." A Vale statement added: "Everyone at the club would like to wish Remie all the best for the future."
