Lazio forward Miroslav Klose is frustrated by his lack of playing time this season, but insists he will not leave the Serie A club this winter.

Klose, 36, has started just five times for the Biancocelesti this season, despite extending his contract by a year last summer.

Coach Stefano Pioli has preferred summer signing Filio Djordjevic as his first-choice striker and Klose admits it is a situation he did not expect after winning the World Cup with Germany in July.

"I extended my contract with Lazio because I want to keep playing football and because I think I can still help this team," Klose told Germany's Welt am Sonntag newspaper.

"I've regained my condition, but to be back to my best I need to play two or three games in a row, but, if I'm only getting half a game at best, that's not enough. I'm not getting into a rhythm.

"I've played very little and cannot say that I'm happy."

Klose has been linked with a return to Germany this winter, but he has vowed to fight for his place in Rome.

"Absolutely - I've discussed it with the coach and he knows how I think and what I want," Klose added.
