Shrewsbury midfielder James Wesolowski could be out for the rest of the season after suffering a serious knee injury.

The 27-year-old Australian went off just 17 minutes into Saturday's 3-0 defeat of Hartlepool and is facing surgery. "Weso has ruptured the MCL and ACL ligaments in his knee and will need an operation on this," physio Chris Skitt told the club website. "It will take place sometime in the next four weeks as we need to allow the swelling to go down and his knee to settle before the operation. "The prognosis is that he will probably be out for the rest of the season; the injury will keep him out for a sustained time."
