Burnett: Murphy is a big loss

Dagenham manager Wayne Burnett has admitted the club will struggle to replace striker Rhys Murphy.

The 24-year-old, who bagged 14 goals in 41 appearances for the Daggers, sealed a late transfer deadline day move to Oldham. Burnett expressed his disappointment at losing the prolific Murphy but believes his "good schooling" at Arsenal will see him become a successful striker. "He'll be a big loss, he's been out for a long time and it will take him a while to get back," he told the official club website. "It shows the calibre of player he is when we had an offer for him in July when he was still injured. "It will be difficult to replace someone like Rhys, he had good schooling, being part of the Arsenal Academy. "He scores all different types of goals, it hasn't come as a shock that people have wanted to take him." The League Two side managed to seal loan deals for strike duo Daniel Carr and Alex Jakubiak, with Burnett also hoping to extend defender Ayo Obileye's deal from Charlton this week.
