Aberdeen midfielder Barry Robson's appeal against his red card against Dundee United at Pittodrie last weekend has been rejected.

The Scottish Football Association decided to uphold the decision after reviewing the incident at Hampden on Thursday.

Robson was dismissed after catching United’s Charlie Telfer in the face with the lower part of his right arm as he attempted to clear the ball during Aberdeen’s 1-0 Scottish Premiership victory.

The Dons' favourite travelled to Hampden to make his case in person but the SFA’s appeals tribunal backed referee Bobby Madden’s version of events.

And the decision means Robson will miss away games against former clubs Inverness Caley on Saturday and Dundee United on May 2.
