Everton midfielder Kevin Mirallas has signed a three-year contract extension which will keep him at Goodison Park until June 2018.

The Belgian becomes the second Blues star to commit his future to the club this week after Irish international James McCarthy signed a new five-year deal on Thursday.

The winger has scored 29 goals in 85 starts and 25 substitute appearances for the Toffees, including the 11 he notched in 24 starts last term.

Speaking to evertontv, Mirallas said: "I’m very happy to sign. I’ve signed at Everton to win a trophy. I’m at a good team and I can continue my performances here.

"Now I am very happy because I can concentrate on my team and our future, starting with the Premier League tomorrow.”

Newspaper reports had linked Mirallas with both Tottenham and West Ham but the player will remain at Goodison Park, much to the delight of Everton manager Roberto Martinez.

"To say I am delighted is an understatement. What this means is that Kevin has chosen Everton for the next chapter in his career," said Martinez.

"As you can imagine, his potential impact and contribution will be a major part of what we are trying to achieve.”
