Fulham are close to reaching a deal to sign Tim Ream from Bolton, according to Sky sources.

The USA international centre-back is the subject of interest from both the Whites and QPR, who Sky Sports reported earlier this week had a £1.4m bid accepted by Wanderers.

But it is understood Ream prefers a move to Craven Cottage and talks over a deal are currently ongoing between the clubs.

Both Fulham and Rangers had previous bids for Ream rejected earlier this summer, and manager Neil Lennon has previously spoken of his reluctance to lose the 27-year-old.

Ream joined Bolton in 2012 for £2.5m from New York Red Bulls having trained with the club during the MLS side's winter break.

He has made over 100 appearances for the Championship club, without scoring, and he has won 15 caps for the USA.

Kit Symons, speaking after Fulham's 2-1 defeat to Brighton, said: “We are close to a couple and until they’re done I’m not going to name names because you can tempt fate.

"Until the signature’s on the form I’m not going to say much detail. We are very close to one and hopefully close to another as well.”
