Watford have signed Italy international Alessandro Diamanti on a season-long loan subject to receiving international clearance.

The 32-year-old forward, who had been training with the Hornets at their London Colney base for the past week, joins from Chinese club Guangzhou Evergrande.

Diamanti becomes manager Quique Sanchez Flores’ 12th signing of the summer and could make his debut in Saturday’s match with Southampton at Vicarage Road.

He previously spent a season in the Premier League with West Ham, making 30 appearances and scoring seven times during the 2009-10 campaign.
