Aston Villa have confirmed winger Aleksandar Tonev has joined Serie A new boys Frosinone on a permanent deal.

Tonev joined Villa in the summer of 2013 and made 17 appearances in his first season at the club, but he was loaned out to Celtic in 2014-15.

The Bulgaria international was banned for seven games during his spell in Scotland for alleged racial abuse against Aberdeen's Shay Logan.

He was under contract to Villa until the end of the 2016-17 season but will instead try to make a breakthrough in Italy.
