Jurgen Klopp admits Liverpool's home defeat to Crystal Palace last month is stopping him from getting carried away about his promising start to life at Anfield.

Liverpool have lost only one of the opening 10 matches of the German's reign, in which time they have claimed impressive away victories over Chelsea and Manchester City and moved to within four points of the top four.

But while their form has garnered plenty of praise in recent weeks, it is the 2-1 reverse to Alan Pardew's side that continues to play on Klopp's mind.

Speaking ahead of the Sky Live Capital One Cup quarter-final clash at Southampton on Wednesday evening, the former Borussia Dortmund boss said: "Sometimes I would really like to change my personality but I can't forget this loss against Crystal Palace. If we had won this, I would say it was okay."

Klopp has had just eight weeks with his new squad and although they have adapted to his pressing style well, he concedes he does not want to over-complicate his instructions to his squad while the season is still ongoing.

"I think we've done not too bad until now," he added. "We give as much information as we could, as we should. With information, if I would say every day all the things I know, it is for sure too much.

"It's timing, the right information is very important, of course. We don't want that they have to take their papers on the pitch. It's football.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has dismissed reports he is interested in signing a new goalkeeper

"We have to play football. This word 'playing' is everything that you need. For this moment it's okay - maybe we could have done better but we never will know this.

"We go on, we are not even at half of the way of the season, of our development. We all think we have a long time together and we have always to do the next step."
