Everton have agreed to loan winger Aiden McGeady to Sheffield Wednesday until the end of the season, according to Sky sources.

McGeady is out of favour at Goodison Park and he wants first-team football as he bids to nail down a place in the Republic of Ireland Euro 2016 squad.

The winger had been linked with loan moves to Sevilla, Blackburn Rovers, Leeds United and his former club Celtic.

McGeady played under Sevilla coach Unai Emery when they were at Spartak Moscow.

The 29-year-old has made only one appearance for Everton this season - against Barnsley in the Capital One Cup second round - and boss Roberto Martinez took him off at half-time.

McGeady will become ambitious Wednesday's third capture from the Premier League in January, following striker Gary Hooper from Norwich, and full-back Joe Bennett from Aston Villa.
