Wales Women's qualification hopes for Euro 2017 were ended as they lost 2-0 against Norway in Newport.

Jayne Ludlow's team were facing an uphill battle, needing to win all of their remaining three games, including beating pacesetters Austria by more than three goals in the final game, to give themselves a chance.

But Ada Hegerberg scored twice in 12 second-half minutes to leave Wales still waiting to make their first appearance at the UEFA Women's Championship.

The home side had the better of the first half with Gemma Evans seeing a free-kick just go over the bar but the two-time winners found their feet after the break.

Wales continued to have good spells and it was against the run of play when Hegerberg opened the scoring with a header in the 69th minute, and she added another from distance nine minutes from time.
